OSHA Medical Evaluation Requirements
Physician or Licensed Healthcare Professional (PLHCP)
OSHA 1910.134 requires that a PLHCP oversee the medical aspects of your respiratory protection program. This physician must:
- Review the medical questionnaire and any supplemental information
- Determine if the employee can safely wear a respirator
- Provide a written recommendation regarding the employee's ability to use respiratory protection
- Conduct additional medical evaluations if indicated
